Learning a language in while holidaying in Mauritius
Many people, when taking a holiday, choose to travel to somewhere with an entirely different culture than where they are originally from. Doing so helps them to gain knowledge of other cultures and traditions as well as learn an exciting new language. If you are planning on learning a language while holidaying in Mauritius, for example, then you will have the opportunity to relax and enjoy beautiful scenery while broadening your horizons. While the official language of Mauritius is English, there are several other languages that are spoken fluently and many of the natives from Mauritius are bilingual or multilingual. French is spoken widely by many locals as well. The most widely spoken language of Mauritius, however, is Mauritian Creole. This language has very close ties with the French language with a few marked differences such as Creole does not contain the deep and rounded consonants of the French language. The Mauritian Creole was used by African slaves in order to communicate with their French masters. It is used today by all Mauritians.
Hindu and Urdu are also spoken in Mauritius along with several other languages such as Cantonese, Hakka and Mandarin among others. Arabic and many Indian languages are spoken in the country as well. Choosing which language you want to learn while on holiday in Mauritius may be your most difficult choice.
Once you have chosen the language that you want to learn, you simply have to spend some time around this beautiful area in order to hear that language spoken fluently. Many natives, again, are bilingual or multilingual so it is not uncommon to hear many languages spoken throughout the day. The internet is readily available in Mauritius and can provide great resources when learning any new language. Choosing to learn a new language is a wonderful experience.
