The Language of Jewelry

The language of Jewelry

Is there something call the language of jewelry. Well all over the world, whatever their social background, or whatever the economic class, from all the varied educational background, both Women and men have accorded a very unique language to the way they buy, gift or wear jewelry. It has been proven without a doubt that the language of jewelry exists. Did you know that most women will not buy a diamond for themselves? Rather they would prefer to be gifted one .It is very natural for most women to buy jewelry as whenever they find something they like or for a particularly special occasion. In the case of diamonds or pearls (perlen) it is been proved that it is something that is entirely associated with the love of a man for a women.

Thus for women it is an ultimate compliment and a moment considered the tipping point when a Man throws that question with the only stone that is worth its salt for such an occasion, a Diamond. This is the language of jewelry, when a man in love with a women and vise versa share with the gift of a diamond. All across human history all forms of jewelry convey their own very special message similar to the one mentioned above.
In the ancient times The Egyptians nobles were entombed with their very personal belongings which also included their Jewelry, so they could continue to use it in the afterlife. This ensured that they could continue to live their life after their death exactly the way they did when they were alive.

In some Asian countries the language of jewelry is very different culturally. On particular auspicious days it is considered as a good omen to buy gold and gold jewelry to ensure continuous prosperity and well being of the family. The language of jewels in this case is molded by religious beliefs.  In some central Asian countries it is considered a good omen to make jewelry with certain traditional icons associated with power, knowledge, nobility and lineage. Here the language of the jewels is more for the association that is formed with their past glory and power. It showcases the reverence and long-live of that culture thru the jewelry worn by its followers and is supposed to bring upon the wearer the blessings of that symbol. Wedding Jewelry (Brautschmuck)

The Africans were a great user of beads and trinkets which was part of their identity, some even linked to a particular tribe or community. Jewels made of Ivory, or the fangs of a vanquished lion symbolized the dominance and bravery of the wearer and in a way established position of that man in his society.  In the present times traditional precious jewelry has a tough competition from the junk jewels. In modern times we see the followers of rap music with a taste for underworld flaunt shining silver and sometimes gold .The use of jewelry here is to differentiate themselves from the usual crowd, in a way it is used to intimidate others to be aware of that person.
